ANKH
The ankh is a symbolic device (hieroglyph) originating from Ancient Egypt and is commonly translated as representing the principle of life. The symbol originally represented those life forces which animate the body. The tau (T) part of the ankh represented the God Osiris, while the oval or handle (Ο) represented the Goddess Isis. The ankh symbolises a key that unlocks the mysteries of heaven and earth. In later times the ankh was known in medieval Europe as Crux Ansata (cross with a handle).
