ANIMA TWO 1996 - 99
The second series in my work – Anima Two - marked the beginning of a more collaborative phase between myself and the women with whom I work. Many of the subjects and emotions expressed in these images were drawn from the real-life experiences of those taking part.
My art is inspired by the human condition and the enduring legacy of my European ancestors.
If you look closely at my images you will not see any power lines in the background or wrist watches and modern items of clothing being worn by the subjects. These things are ephemeral and not lasting like other aspects of our culture.
I am forever grateful to those women who have helped me express these aspects of my own nature and ancestry.
My thanks to Mia, Angie, both Danielles, Amanda, Belinda, Simone, Leigh, Monique and Taya for all their time and generosity.
