ANIMA

Anima is a Latin word meaning breath or life. This term was used by Carl Jung to describe the feminine part of the male psyche and was seen by him to balance or complement masculine nature. A man’s anima has nothing necessarily to do with his sexual preferences and does not imply that he is effeminate or otherwise confused about his masculine identity. Jung argued that recognising and expressing his anima can help a man to become more rounded, or complete as a person, by harmonising the various aspects of his character into a working whole.
